MACHETE

Originally conceived as a 'fake' film trailer in between the two rather underwhelming 'Grindhouse' films Planet Terror from Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof - Machete starring Danny Trejo received such praise and focus they've now made it into a bona-fide film.
From Director Robert Rodriguez and Ethan Maniquis the film is Danny Trejo's first lead role and has a right mixed bag of stars with Michelle Rodriguez, Jessica Alba and Lindsay Lohan joining the original mock cast of Jeff Fahey and Cheech Marin and a few surprises thrown in too with Don Johnson, Steven Seagal and even Robert DeNiro on board. It's good to see they've not gone too serious and they've kept the original concept of a ropey B-Movie fully intact. It's difficult to see how this could possibly disappoint and as far as we know this isn't a windup! Released in the USA on September 3rd, out here shortly after no doubt.
